This unique museum has a fascinating and exotic collection of over 100 real size exhibits of Indian Railways. Static and working models, signaling equipments, antique furnitures, historical photographs and related literature etc. are displayed in the museum. The line-up of old coaches includes the handsome Prince of Wales Saloon, built in 1875. Not to be outdone is the Maharaja of Mysore’s Saloon built in 1899 with its brocade covered chairs and an elegant rosewood bed; one can peer in through the windows for a good look. The star attraction here is the Fairy Queen, built in 1855 and considered to be one of the best preserved steam locomotive engines of her age. A ride in joy train and mono rail (PSMT) is the most exciting experience besides boating. Do not miss the handsome Fire Engine on your way out.

the annual Day Out With Thomas the Tankengine is always a crowd favourite. This is a wonderful experience for all members of the family, not just children. During this event, you can meet a full-size Thomas the Tank Engine, as well as several of his personal friends, such as Toby the Rail Motor, Henry, and the Fat Controller. You can also take a genuine steam engine ride.

Other activities available during this amazing event are unlimited access to the mini train rides, a visit to the Thomas movie station, the opportunity to use an inflatable slide, face painting, story telling, and the once-in-a-lifetime chance to have your photo taken next to the dear engine.

Another special event is the “Easter at Trainworks” event. Here, you can follow the antics of an adorable Easter Bunny from the Thirlmere station, where he commences his participation in the enormous Easter Egg Hunt. This is an incredibly exciting and fast-paced event that is sure to conclude with everyone having found at least some eggs–many have been craftily hidden, and the hunt is split into age categories for a more exhilarating experience.
